The
third Bexhill Chess Congress took place last weekend at the Parkhurst
Hall. A convivial atmosphere brought the best out of the twenty-four
players, most of whom stayed in local hotels and enjoyed our range of
restaurants during their time away from the board.
The winners were John Sugden, a stalwart member of the Hastings and St Leonards Chess Club and Bexhill resident, and Oliver Finnegan, who travelled daily to Bexhill from London.
The organisers are planning another event later this year. The chess arbiters were Adam Raoof, representing the international FIDE association, and Geoff Gammon, of the English Chess Federation.
